Need advice with Audi
I posted this in another forum with no replies. I thought I would try it here to see if I could find some help.
I have a 2013 A4 that I bought in 2012. It has 68,000 highway miles. I have serviced it routinely on schedule and it has been a great car. I recently took it in for a slight tapping noise I was hearing but could not figure out where it was coming from. The dealership service department informs me that the transmission has broken inside the engine.
The service department tells me that it is an $8000.00 fix. It is out of warranty of course. However, everyone agrees that the transmission should not be out at 68,000 miles. First, when I google audi transmission replacement I am seeing prices in the $4000.00 range for parts and labor. Second, let me state that Audi customer service has been responding nicely but has not offered any assistance except to say that they will allow the dealership to offer me "trade in assistance". I owe $19,000 on the car. I need advice from anyone who has had to deal with this before. Should Audi replace the transmission at their cost? I feel like they are trying to "sell"me a new car that is gonna end up costing me more than I what I pay now.
Thanks a lot!
