New Rims Steering wheel shakes now ?
Ok I just put on these ADR M-Sport rims on my 03 A4 19x8.5 5x112 it looks pretty sick!, but the darn steering wheel shakes now when I reach about 50mph, they are balanced so that eliminates one reason, and the alignment is ok so that takes care of two reasons, so what next? the rims are brand new tires are brand new so what the problem is? I talked to the shop owner who sold me the rims, he tried to explain to me that they usually have this problem with audi's, and benz's he said he had to order something to put on the rim or something that would stop the shaking what the heck is he talking about? Help please!!!!!

RE: New Rims Steering wheel shakes now ?
he's prolly talking about a hub centering ring. it's a simple thing, but difficu;t to explain. Where the wheel (it' a "wheel" NOT a "rim.") mounts to the hub doesn't always match up 100%. there cud be a l'il "play" in the diff between the hub's outer and the wheel's inner. if so, the wheel cud be a millimeter, or two, off center, in relation to the roll-center of the rub. a centering ring mates them up s they match, center-to-center. unnerstand, or should someone else take a stab at explaining it?

we had a used car in our shop we tried to put aftermarket rims on the car but the centering ring was wrong and yea there is a vibration that comes in about 50 i felt it really good at 60-65
