Default Noisy A4 FSI

When I start my A4 2.0 FSI from cold there is a noise which sounds like a dull catching noise - almost diesel like. It definately comes from the engine and clears with in 1 minute. Apparently this happens alot on other FSI 's and the garage says do not worry. It is annoying and not what I expect from an Audi.

Can anyone help ?

Any one else have this propblem

Personally i dont care for the fsi for that reason. Theyre just to noisy. I know the system can temporaly be turned off. Not sure if it can be done permanatly but that may be something youll want to look into.

Not sure what you mean turned off permanatly but if you did that the car would not run

You can only turn it down for service on the fuel system, at that psi the fuel would go right through your skin

Huh? What do you mean? How could you turn off FSI? All fsi is the way the fuel is injected directly into the cylinder at very high pressures.

The FSI engine is always noises like a diesel and it's perfectly normal - especially when it is cold.

I wonder if some one is getting mixed up with an FSE boost valve rather than FSI direct injection

Theres a way to temporarily disable the fsi using the factory scan tool. Its pretty cool. Engine quites right down and everything. I was suggesting that you look into see if there is a way to permanatly disable the system and run it like a normal fuel system to get rid of the noise.

Ive only seen it done using the factory scan tool but the fsi engine can run on normal fuel pressure. Maybe a chip programmer can find a way to permanatly disable the system for the people unhappy with the noisy engine they just bought.
