The turbo unit on my2001 A4 1.9 TDI is making a sucking/something rubbing noise when changing gear or when i lift off the accelerator quickly. There is no loss of performance, the noise is most noticable if I rev the engine whilst not in gear for a second or so then lift off the accelerator quickly. Is it about to explode ?

 

how many miles are on it.... are you sure its not just making the normal turbo noises

Its like a metal rubbing on metal noise. I took the tube off felt the impeller which turns ok & cant feel any play on the bearing. sounds as if the fins momentarily rub on the casing?
