Default drivers door switches all dead

odd one this.. Elec windows dont work in either front door. passenger side switch illuminates, drivers doesnt. interior light stays on like it thinks a door is open, but the dash indicator doesn't show drivers door open when it is.
Drivers door doesn't work when central locking, all others ok. Mirror adjust in drivers door also u/s. ditto emergency lock button again on drivers door, in fact if its on the drivers door, it doesn't work, except for 1) speakers work OK, 2) warning light that shows other cars you've got the door open at night works 3) red flasher in door cap that shows when alarm is armed flashes constantly while driving.
Fuse 22 (covers both front doors) is OK.

Some kind of break/short inside door or is whatever senses the door is shut broke, but why would that stop the windows working ?

Its an 02 A4 1.9Tdi, no probs until this one.

just frinfo(cause I have noticed a lot of these threads you never get to know the answer and whether it worked or not) ,got this sorted today. Took it to a local electrics specialist, cause audi dealers over here are a) useless b) very much up their own ar$e c) £70 ($115?) an hour for labour (labor) and he found several wires broken inside the rubber grommet between body and door. why they all went at once i dont know. so short term he patched them, long term I probably need a new door loom. Not happy with this, unless last owner was a postman or a door2door salesman, car is less than 4 yrs old n this sort of wear and tear shouldn't be showing up. Yeah probably my fault for driving on the wrong side of the road!

Good forum though,I'll be back next time the '97 crock has a problem. Unless I've saved up enough for the 2.7 Tdi A6 by then.

The wires probably didnt all go at the same time. The mirror and the lock probably went first and you never noticed because they are rarely used. Then the windows went and you noticed the other were bad. The repair should last. I wouldnt worry to much about getting that loom. Im also glad you brought up the problem. Its the first thing anyone should check when they have a problem with anything on the door in ANY car. Its easy to access and requires no tools to check. And no its not you fault for driving on the wrong side. Its your fault for opening and closing your door so much. From now on use the window dukes of hazarrd style.
