which oil filter should i get?
i'm about to change my oil... is there a specific brand of oil filter i should look for?
does anyone swear by a certain brand, or are they pretty much all the same?
do they sell them in most auto stores (pep boys, auto zone, etc.) or should i get it online?
i appreciate any help here, thanks!!

I like MANN Oil Filters, they are about 5 bucks each.
You would have luck buying them online.
If you really need a oil filter, try FRAM 'Hand Grip' type oil filters,
they work well for my car.

RE: which oil filter should i get?
I am new to this forum and have owned an Audi less than a week, but I know enough to keep as far away from Fram oil filters as prudence will allow. Although I have always used Penzoil in my cars and Rotella in my truck, and think both of them are fine, I've always known that the best oil and best filters on the market were Mobile-1
At any rate if its Orange in color (and by the way Fram makes an awful lot of other cheap oil filters under different names) toss it. Get yourself a Mobile-1 filter at least.

Yup, mann or mahle filters. If it isnt black, dont use it on your car. Mann filters have a thicker filtering media inside them and they also have a anti-leak back valve built into them.
As far as oil goes. make sure its in the ball park of 15w-40. I usually use Castrol GTX or if they have 5qt bottle of Rotella, i pick that up. Anything litter then 15w-40, your accelerating the wear on your engine. European engines need thicker oil
