My car's "low coolant" light is blinking, I and my temp went all the way to the red! I'd just got off work, so my car had been sitting for about 7-8 hours before this happened. I had only driven it about 3 to 4 miles before this happened. So I pulled over at the first gas station about 3 blocks away, opened the hood & nothing was hot, had coolant, had fluids
So I'm not sure what to do... Or whats really wrong with my car.

I checked all the fluids, which were good. Turned the heat on to see if it would bring down the engine heat. Which it didn't. Went and got an oil change.

 

Change the coolant temp sensor - you're probably getting false readings.
