P0103 code
Hi, I haven't been on this forum lately because our A4 (1997 Quattro 2.8L V6) has been running well. Three times in the last week it sputtered while driving and the CEL came on right away. The code is P0103 each time.
My question is if anyone knows of any issues with MAF on this model or wiring issues, problems, tips, etc.
Any "Go / No Go" test for the MAF?
Thank you,
Kurt

Disconnect the MAF and see if the car runs fine. If so the MAF is the issue. The ECU can run the engine just fine using the O2 sensor and TPS sensors. But if the MAF is dumping bad data in the mix, it will cause the ECU to do stupid stuff and make it sputter like you say. However, before you buy a new MAF, replace the spark plugs as you may have one or two that are glazed for whatever reason. These will also cause a sputter on acceleration.
Check out my brief write up on glazed plugs. https://www.audiforums.com/forum/gen...k-plug-218806/ The bastards will drive you batty sometimes.

Thanks, Dave...
The car quit running several times yesterday afternoon when it was hot (85F) but ran just fine in the morning when it was cooler. I ordered a new MAF sensor as I got another P0103 code. Did not realize it would run fine with sensor disconnected. I might try that this week but the sensor is out of the car right now.
Thank you for your reply!
