If so, then I misunderstood. The way your post read (to me) was that you were stating that Horch started the Audi company from the beginning of his career and that he chose "Audi" just because it was a Latin derivative - as if it were a clever idea - not because he wasn't allowed to use his name anymore.

i cant believe it, and to think all this time i was pronouncing it wrond. i thought it was ( OUD-EEEEE) . like ouchy.... im kinda questioning the whole Awe-deee, since i was at 3 different dealerships and they all pronounced it OUD-EEEEE..... Hmmmmmm OUD-EEEEE sounds more powerful, lol.

Just because it's a dealership doesn't mean the staff know how to pronounce it. Remember, this is America where we butcher names all the time. Our lazy tongues have caused many a "proper" mis-pronounciation.
