Default Pulsating vibrations when accelerator pressed

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has an idea what my problem is before I go to a garage.

Basically, the car is fine at idle. When I press the accelerator (either in gear or in neutral) there is a steady pulse like vibration coming from the front end of the car which I can feel through pedals and gear stick... It also makes a sound (just the interior vibrating I think, sounds almost sub-bass) The vibrations are pretty steady and the speed of them increases as I increase the revs, and likewise, they become less frequent as the revs drop.

I initially thought the problem was to do with wheels/brakes/tyres but as the problem occurs when in neutral I now know this isn't the case.

I have an Audi A6 2.0TDI.

Any help or advice is much appreciated.

Thanks!
