I have a 2011 Q7 3.0 TDI that has a leaking rear main seal. To fix this can the gearbox be removed to access the seal, or does the whole engine and gear box have to be removed? Has anyone had this problem with their vehicle?

 

Unless the Q7's are like the old MG Midgets where the transmission fit back into a tunnel of sorts and required the entire engine and transmission be removed as one, I don't see why you can't just drop the transmission to get at the main seal.

 

Has this been answered clearly?(Same problem with an 09)
