Question about fluids
Hi, I am new to this forum, although I own an Audi A4 2003, 3.0L. I took my car today to a local garage for a break service and the tech told me I need to flush (a) the automatic transmission fluid; (b) the power steering fluid; (c) differential fluid; (d) the transfer case fluid; and (e) that my engine oil dipstick was broken. I remember reading somewhere that Audi uses mineral oil for the power steering, for example, and that this does not need to be flushed but just topped off. My car now has 63,000 miles and I have been taking it to the dealer for the annual recommended services, but the tech said that Audi never flushes the fluids because they want the car to last less... Any views would be greatly appreciated.
The dealer may be expensive but they definitely know their Audi's. I usually check with them and then go do it myself.
Jiffy Lube pulled that trick on my husband in our other vehicle, and when he got home I showed him the service schedule in our owner's manual. Oops didn't need the service for another 40k miles.
There is some great info on this website, I would do a forum search to see what everyone is saying.
