Removing radio from the dash

Removing radio from the dash
Hi again,
I recently posted about my head lights not working. Turns out I needed to replace the switch, which was raelly expensive. Anyway I got the lights working but because the battery had to be diconnected to do the job my radio doesn't work. Apparently the radio has a mechanism in it that puts the radio in safe mode when the battery is disconnected. I was told I need the radio code to get the radio working again but I don't have it. The dealer told me if I could get the radio out of the dash to get the serial number he would be able to get the code for me. Is it possible to do this myself? Can anyone tell me what I will be in for if I attempt this myself? Thanks
Dom

RE: Removing radio from the dash
I had to get my radio code too. I just took two flat head screwdrivers and inserted them into the holes in the side of the deck. And pulled out. It slides right out. The code should be written on the unit. After you get the code, do a search in the forum to find out what buttons you have to press in order to put the code in. Its something like , holding rsd+fm2 for 5 seconds. Something like that , SEARCH!!!

Just get the proper radio keys. Itll make life much easier on yourself. The serial number will begin with auz. If your lucky a sticker with the code will still be stuck to the radio. It will be a four digit number.

RE: Removing radio from the dash
Didnt catch the year but on some models the radio has two horizontal slots at the base. There is a 2 key set that slides in and inward to release and push out the head. Small tools could work but you risk damaging the head face and blowing the fuse located in the head itself.
