Repair CD
I'm sure this has been covered before but I don’t see it listed in the forum.
There are a number of people advertising Audi Repair manuals CDs on Ebay. I am wondering if anyone had bought one and what they think of it.
From what I can see there are three – the expensive Bently CD, the 1983 to 1998 CD, and the 1983 to 2000 set of two. The descriptions are not clear but it looks as if the 2 CD set (1983 to 2000) is very simple, and the 1983 to 1998 CD is the same but without the 99 and 2000 info. The Bentley CD is the factory one and in the usual Audi fashion expensive.

RE: Repair CD
One of my friends has the Bentley CD and sugested that I try one of the cheepies to see how it compares. He said that at around $15 (including shipping) it is worth a look, even if the info is basic - so I ordered two different ones. I'll let people know what I learn.
BTW I'm driving an 89 200 Quattro turbo, 88 90 Quattro, and 95 A6.
The 200 has 308K and going strong - Boy do I love that automoble!

RE: Repair CD
Here is what I've learned about Audi repair CDs.
The Mitchell CDs that are showing up on Ebay -usually sets of two for around $10- are not very good. There is a little info and a few pictures but they certainly are not the CDs used by Audi mechanics. If they are the only thing you have they might help - a little, but only a little- if your lucky. Much of the info is general and could apply to any Audi. You also get info on many other automobiles on the same disk. Again general in nature.
I needed to see about adjusting the ignition lockout cable on my 96 A6 with auto trans. All I could see were some generic pictures of the key mechanism and the transmission shifter, but nothing about where the screws were to remove the console, what I needed to do to get to the switch, or if the cable could be adjusted. I got more info from my 200 QT Bentley Manual about the A6 than I did from the CDs, but in that case it is still somewhat a guess.
This is a case of you get what you pay for. [:@]
BTW - CD sets with two significantly different descriptions resulted in my getting the same thing so make sure you know what you are getting. Ask the seller if it is Mitchell - if it is you might end up with two coffe cup coasters, but there might be something you could use.
