right back corner noise, like a low alarm
Help!. 3 days ago I bought a 2003 A6 Avant 28K miles. I just parked it in my garage after a 2 mile trip and am getting a very low hardly audible repeated tone from somewhere in the rear right corner. It repeats every 2 seconds. It has continued for 1/2 hr even after I drove a short distance and parked it again. Am I crazy?
I now understand that the alarm brain is in that area so this must be a form of alarm. Maybe I have to reset the interior motion sensors or something. How do I do that? I have made sure all the windows are up, all doors have been opened and closed, rear hatch closed? very low alarm still sounding.

Maybe you've parked too close to teh inside of your garage
Seriously, RTFM and see if it tells you how to how to reset the parking thingy. I doubt it's teh alarm as it should have reset/stopped once you started it up and drove it around...

Owners manual has nothing on resetting the parking assist. Hard to believe it is the parking assist because you can't here it from inside the car but I'll try a few tests. The noise stopped awhile ago as the car sat still but has started again after I left and came back and parked in the garage.

Whatever it is it's abviously malfunctioning. Does it do it with teh car running? There should be a button inside teh drivers' doorframe, visib;e with teh door open, that looks kinda like an antenna with radio waves coming up out of it. That should be teh defeat button for your internal motion sensors. You don't keep a wrist-watch-dog IN you car while your away, doya? I offer one other previously unconsidered possibility... Your car is HAUNTED[sm=badbadbad.gif]
