Default S-tronic gearbox bushing wear

Just got a letter today from Audi, noting that they have found premature bushing wear in the mechatronic unit of certain 2007-2009 S-tronic gearboxes, which leads to "jerking". They will have a "diagnostic tool" available to dealers by late spring 2010 to determine which ones need replacement of the mechatronic unit. Warranty on all S-tronic gearboxes will be extended to 10 years/100,000 miles.

I had jerking problems with my A3 (from stop to 1st gear) this past summer but the dealer said it was normal. I'm glad they're going to do something about it. Thanks to everyone who lodged formal complaints, which is probably what ultimately led to this action.
