S3 Coolant Leak
Hello Everyone!
I am new to this forum (joined today
). I own a 2017 S3 and a few months ago the computer warning sign went off saying the coolant level is low. So, I bought the Audi recommended coolant and topped off the reservoir to the Max line. After about a month, the low-coolant warning message went off again, so I knew there must be a leak somewhere. I googled the problem and found out that other owners have had the same issue and the problem was the thermostat housing. Anyways, I took the car to the Audi dealer and they confirmed that the leak was from the thermostat housing. When I picked up the car, I looked at the coolant reservoir and it was filled way beyond the Max line. I checked it when the engine was cold; not hot. I asked the service advisor and he said they have a machine that fills the correct amount of coolant into the system. I'm not an expert mechanic but I'm not a novice either, and his explanation didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. When the car was brand new, the coolant level was just below the Max line. I trust the factory more than I trust the dealer's service department. But before I raise hell with them, I would appreciate it, if the experts on this forum could shed some light on this. Sorry for the long message, but I wanted to give you as much detail as possible.
Tanx!
