Hi all,

I have a problem with my S3 making a strange rattling noise in the engine bay. This occurs when the engine ignition is turned off after running the engine hot for a few minutes. The noise sounds like a broken pump of some description and goes on for some minutes after the ignition is stopped and then stops on its own, there is no indication of the engine overheating or anything like that. I am worried it could be an intercooler pump or something ( i am presuming these cars turbos arent air cooled?)?? I cant describe the noise save that it sounds for all the world like a broken water pump would - it seems to come from the front of the engine bay between the block and the radiator somewhere. It isnt connected to the fan going on or off. Could i possibly be risking knackering my turbo if i dont solve this problem soon?
