Default s4 starting problems

hi, i am new to the forum and have a question. My 00 s4 is having problems starting after its been sitting for a while- it will crank and crank and crank and finally start and then if is shut her down and restart it will start right up... same thing if i go to the store or something and arent in there long, i will come out and it will fire right up...

Does this sounds like a starter or fuel filter/ pump problem or is it something else?

Also i am stage 2+ APR but i dont think that should matter right?

thanks in advance!

try checking you cam signal. if the cam sensor is done. the computer has to find the cylender order through the crank sensor which takes longer, causing the long start.

Do you have a check engine light?
When was the timing belt done?
Check for Crankshaft sensors, but You should scan it first and post the codes here.

well i just bought the car and was told timinig/ water pump was done at 90K and it has 107K now... check engine light was on- for catalytic converter code- cleared it, no other codes.... the cat one came back - i have apr full exhaust so i assume cat code will always be coming back?

to check you signal on your cam you need a digital multi meter. im not too fimiliar with the s4 motor but the sensor should be very near the cam where ever you number one cyl is. just check to see if there is voltage.

also what you originally posted about fuel filter or pump problem is a possibility. i would change the filter regaurdless and see if it fixes it.

if this just started its probably not going to be a timing issue. go from there and repost results.

if the exhaust is street legal it should not be throwing cat codes. and you should find the issue with that as well.

good luck
