Question Star / Snowflake Thing on Instrument Cluster

This is probably a stupid question, but what does the star symbol mean on the instrument cluster near the temperature display on the instrument cluster? You can see it to the left of the temperature / under the Park symbol in the attached image. I've got a 1999 A4 Quattro Avant, if that helps. Thanks to anyone who can answer this!

Default Thanks!

I've been looking at it for years, but never really understood what it meant. Thanks!
