Cheers Im new to the forum but been driving Audi's for a while now. I own a 1998 a4 and recently had some work done, new turbo,brakes,tierods, starter...... and one day the car stopped starting! The gauges flash up when the ignition is engaged but the starter does not engage at all, not even a click! It can be push started but thats all! any help is greatly appreciated! I also think that the door sensor is gone. I cant lock the car without arming the factory alarm and when i un lock it doesnt disarm, also the interior lights dont come on when you open the door. this sound familiar to any one?

 

sounds like a bad battery ground... i dunno, kinda hard to say. or the cable from the battery to the starter is loose

 

thanks ill try that later this week ive got too many problem cars right now! The A4 is givin me grief,my 5000 turbo wagon is in need of a fuel pump,and today for no reason at all my 92 pulsar gtir just quit giving me 1st and 2nd gear....not a happy camper!
btw do those symptoms above sound like a door sensor to you? it also "ding" like the door is open for about 2 min after you start it. the A4 that is.
