In my search to find a new audi i have found a 98 a4 1.8tq with a tiptronic tranny. are these any good and is anyone satisfied with theirs. i would prefer a manual but i can find any that are in good condition.

 

If you want a manual and are used to driving stick than the tipronic is not going to cut it. It is a great trans and as an auto I highly recomend it. The tiptronic comes in nicely downshifting in the snow and keeping the revs high out of turns but as long as the shifts are overidden by the computer you will become disapointed. Just my oppinion as I was in your shoes 3 years ago and went with the auto. I do enjoy it but it is not a stick! Good luck!
