i dont thik it will harm the tranny unless the trailer and boat is above the stated weight limit set by your car. if you do tow some thing just gradialy get on the throttle( kinda drive like grandma). also use the brakes more and not the engine to brake.

As long as you get a proper tow hitch and don' exceed the GVWR, you will be fine. As hb972.8q said, you'll need to drive far more conservatively with a trailer. Stopping distances are increased quite a bit and the overall handling is compromised. When starting from a stop, it is best to keep from jerking or starting off hard. Other than that, it is best to get any other advice form the trailer company where you buy the trailer.
