Default Transmission issue???

I bought a 2000 A8 in October with 145000 miles on it. It seemed to shift odd to me when going about 40-50 mph, it would shift from 4th to 5th at a steady speed, I am guessing that it has something to do with the extra gear in the transmission that I'm not used to, all of the automatics I've ever had we're only 3 or 4 speeds and the past several were manuals. My first question is is that normal? Secondly, after the recent cold snap here in Pa, it seems like it is winding out a little longer in 3rd gear before it shifts. Could the extreme cold have messed something up or am I possibly just imagining this? I let the car warm up for about 15-20 minutes before trying to leave and it seemed like it still didn't want to go so I turned around and went back to the house for an additional 15 and when I left it seemed better. Sorry if this rambled, but I was just wondering if anyone else has encountered either of these. Thanks!!

I'm having the same curiosity. I feel those same things and I also notice that there is a slight delay when I put it in reverse. Wondering if this is just getting used to an Audi's transmission or if there is something wrong. This is my first Audi so I have nothing to go on and looking to this site for some insight.

My first too, but I never noticed any hesitation going into reverse.
