Turbo timers
I am wondering what the best brand turbo timer is for a B5 which I just purchase. Also is this really effective in preserving the life of my turbo. Or would keeping up with the general maintenance be just as good.
Unless you are chipped or have a larger turbo installed, a turbo timer is a waste of money. As ImolaS4 said, just take it easy for the last few minutes of driving. Spend the 200 bucks elseware.
I have a chipped and turbo upgraded (t3t4 hybrid) 1.8t. I have a turbo timer that was just $75. I don’t see the point in spending a lot on a timer, but when you can’t sit in the car for a few minutes, you can still be sure your turbo was safely cooled down. However, if you haven’t upgraded anything you don’t need a timer. The timer I have is a pivot baby turbo timer. It has manual and auto modes. It also functions as a volt meter. I have had the timer for about six months now and have no complaints.
