Hi everyone, I've been lurking around here for quite awhile but this is my first actual post. So anyway I had an 03 a4 1.8tq that got t-boned so I decided to try and swap the engine/trans from that into my 04 passat 4motion with a blown motor. The problem is I didn't notice that the a4 transmission didn't have a vehicle speed sensor until I already had it in the car. I pulled the vss from the passat but still no speedo so I'm guessing that the trans from the a4 doesn't have the magnetic tone ring that the sensor reads. So my question is, is it possible to pull the tone ring from the passat and put it in the other transmission or am I going to have to swap the whole thing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know this is kind of an odd question but I really don't want to pull the transmission again if it can be helped. Thanks in advance.

 

It's possible. If the flange and plate that it's mounted too will bolt up, I don't see why not. I'd pull them both and compare first.
