Vibration Issue in 2007 A4
Hey Everyone,
If you haven't guessed by seeing my username, I am the proud owner of a 2007 A4 2.0T Quattro 6M. I bought the car in August at Willow Grove Audi, just outside of Philadelphia, PA. Since then, I have moved down to Macon, GA. Since I bought the car, I always noticed a little bit of a vibration at highway speed. Since I had nothing to compare to, I thought it may be something that all Audi's do...not the case. I took my car to get the 5000 mile service at Nalley Audi, up in Atlanta (no Audi dealer in Macon). They gave me a loaner 2006 A3 2.0T FWD 6M for the couple of days I had to leave my car at the dealer. Upon driving the loaner back to Macon, I realized there was no vibration at all. The abused loaner drove much better than my brand new A4. As soon as I realized this I called the dealer and notified them to check for the vibration. They found that my tires were out of balance, and proceeded to balance them. When I got the car back, the vibration was still there. I called Nalley Audi right away and set-up another appointment. They then found that the two front tires had excessive road force damage and needed to be changed. They replaced the two front tires....I got the car back today and the vibration is still there.
The vibration starts around 70 mph, but is most notable at speeds over 80 mph, and during decelerations between about 85 to 80 mph. All my tires are balances and I'm beginning to think it may have something to do with the suspension, or possibly the engine. I contacted Nalley Audi today and requested a regional service rep to come look at the car.
Does anyone have experience, or heard of something like this with Audi's?
Thanks for any response!

I have a 2008 2.0T (but not quattro) and I can assure you that there are no vibrations - even at higher speeds.
There must be something wrong. If it's not the tires then something mechanical. It's a good thing that the warranty is there while this is happening. I'm kind of p!ssed at Audi's quality control lately, they should of at least do a complete point-to-point check before transporting [all] new vehicles for sale.
For example, when I first got my car, on the 2nd day I heard a small object flowing back and forth as I accelerate/braking, it kind of sounded like a coin fell into the seat rails or something, but couldn't find anything. I took it to the dealer and they thought it was inside the door panel and then it turned out that they found a loose bolt lying around on the underbody (below the seat and underneath the carpet) just scraping back and forth as you drive/turn/accelerating/braking etc., how frickin' annoying is that?
These cars are designed to run smoother at higher speeds - the faster, the smoother. Since it's under warranty, try having them replacing all four wheels (not just tires, but the whole set). Maybe a different set will do.
