i have a radar detector here at the house that i havent used in 2 years.. i am interested in what the Good radar detectors have that the bad ones dont.. can i buy a cheap one off ebay? all opinions accepted.. heh..

 

i've heard the Valentine is the best. ( i think thats what its called) but its also like $300. for basic radar detection get one that has a reputable name like cobra or whistler. I have a cobra and it does the trick. it detects x, k, ka, and laser bands and it cost like $40.

 

Valentine one and Passport 8500 or 8500 x50 are the only way to go. the newer version of the V1 and the 8500 x50 both have k, x, ka, laser and the new Pop3. pop3 is really new and there are not many cops that use them because they are really expensive. i have the passport 8500 which is the model before the x50. saved my *** so many times and it detects from hella far away so there is enough time to slow down. DO NOT BUY THE 40 dollar cobra or any cobras. they suck, even the top of the line one does not compare to the v1 or passport. My friend has the same 40 dollar radar and guess what he got a ticket a couple weeks ago. cop came up and saw it and was like you know those things don't work. those ones don't work. even if they do detect the radar it's prolly to late. so if i were you i would go with either an early version v1 or a passport 8500 on ebay if your not looking to shell out 300-400 bucks for the best radar when pop3 isn't really around yet.
