What is your Audi for?
I’m amazed endlessly how often and often the purpose of having an Audi is stated as to be to beat some “other” car drag racing where the power is everything!
I firmly believe this is a grave misperception and great misusage of an Audi.
.
Audi is to perform in areas as handling – performance and safety, fun driving under risky conditions and roads. I keep my A62.7 mostly for winter driving, where I believe is her strength.
Of course, to exploit car’s potential requires specific skills and courage, but this is another topic…
Anybody having negative experience racing on a slippery, curvy road?

its my daily driver and winter/poor weather fun car. i dont race people or anything (12V driver, id be an idiot if i did) its just a nice car that im happy dosent get too much unneeded attention and was cheap is running reliably (knock on wood) even at 165k.
My Audi is for putting a smile on my face. Usually just looking at it for a while after I wash it is enough to do the trick, sometimes it takes a little spirited driving. I have plans to make it ridiculously fast, but the last thing I would ever do is drag race on public roads. Drag racing on a track would just be to get an idea of just how fast it is, not for bragging rights over anyone else's car.
Mostly, I just really like my Audi, and I have fun changing little bits on it (and eventually, big bits). Fixing the things that are wrong with it gives me a sense of accomplishment. Driving it gives me satisfaction. It makes me smile, and that's why I bought it.

My '96 Audi A4 2.8L 12V is just to have a nice slightly different car to drive to work. I've driven Accords for years and wanted to try something different. So far I'm enjoying the A4, but I know that I will have to do a few things to her in time.

Mine is the best of all worlds for me. It's a fun, stylish, comfortable car for when I am by myself, it's a safe, solid car for carrying my kids, and it's a moddable car that I can do things to in order to personalize it (I'm one of the world's worst candidates for leasing a car - I can't leave anything stock). I don't care right now about having a road rocket, and if I did, I'd pick up a first gen DSM or a mid-90s Z28 for a few grand. I kind of got the road-going ballistic missile phase past me with my 300ZX, and I only wanted something that was nice, comfortable, tunable to an extent, safe for my kids, and quick enough to get me down the road. Plus, with quattro, my winters are no sweat (and they can suck around here). The A4 fits every bill to a T.
I mostly ride my BMW K1200LT motorcycle. I upgraded from an A4 to a 2000 A6 2.7t for the leg room needed for my growing daughters. I usually only drive the A6 when I have my kids or the yearly trip to Puerto Penasco, Mexico where we have a timeshare.
I like the power of the 2.7t, especially when I feel the need to burn some a$$hole doing something stupid next to me.
I see my A6 as a great family sedan, with plenty of power to get me out of trouble.
