when turning left/right most strange sound
Hello friends,
two weeks ago I heard a strange noise from the front of the car everytime I turn the wheels to the maximum (left or right - same sound). The sound is more like a whistle and sometimes (if I stay1 or more seconds on the max) it sounds like a screak. Also my steering is now a little bit stiffer than before. I know the normal low-frequency sound that "a healthy" steering pump generates, but this is not the case. The "normal sound" is present but it is much lower than the whistle/screak sound.
I have checked the steering fluid in the power steer fluid tank and it is plenty (a little bit over max sign but no spilled though). I have checked the alternator -works fine, and the belt to the power steering pump -it is well tensioned.
I dont know what else could be... Some dude said that it might be the steering gear, (the power steering pump was changed 25000 km ago).
Any help would be highly appreciated because I have to use the car every day, and I dont know what is wrong orif something will break in short time.
Thank you guys,
Alex,

Thank you,
yesterday I saw (heard) another A6 with the same problem.
If you say that there is a common problem, at least I will try not to force the steering to it's max.
