White smoke
Hey guys, my first post thank you for the forum. I've looked here several times before but never had to post. Today I thought maybe I can get a second opinion in here.
My car:
A4 - 2002 - Wagon - Quattro - V6 3.0 - 142K.
Thnigs ran beautifully until I found out the car had a regular old timing belt, not chain
.
So, it broke, and mechanic changed it, as well as the full gasket set on the left side (below anti-freeze container) and changed the head gasket on the right side. They also changed 10 valves which is the place where the two pistons that were up hit. (car was parked when timing belt broke; it broke on ignition).
So I take the car, and there's white smoke coming out. I come back, they say they forgot a gasket that is in the back of the engine, on the same left side. They change it.
Then, white smoke come from the right side, they take out the head gasket, and a piece of the old gasket dried up was still in there, causing oil leak, they remove it.
Now, white smoke still coming from the left side, anti freeze level still same (maybe slightly reduced), and they cleaned the oil leak from the bottom on engine area.
The white smoke comes mainly in morning, after 5 min of driving, i open the hood, and white smoke coming up as if from the three spark plugs, or below them... by the time i get to the mechanic.. it's gone. A bad smell coming thru the vents is common too, and increases when smoke is up.
Any ideas?
Many thanks!
