link: Woman locked inside Audi Q3 on 41-degree day

So I decided to do a test myself in my new A4 which has the same keyless feature.

I went into my A4 and asked a friend to lock it (I did open my window beforehand in case he got a bit over excited )

There was no visible way to unlock the doors. Low and behold, the handles were locked and the buttons didnt work.


However, I did not try to crawl in the back to pop the emergency boot lid.


I didnt have the key in the car to insert into the slot.


So IF the key totally failed for this lady and inserting it didnt work... then there is credit to her predicament. However she obliviously didnt try the emergency boot lid and we can only speculate if she tried inserting the key. There was still almost zero chance of dying as smashing the window would defiantly have worked at a last resort.

Does anyone know if the key runs out of batteries, if inserting it still starts the car?
