Best Air Intake for 99 A4 2.8 Quattro??
hey man, your my first post, so feel special. I own a 97 A4 2.8 Quattro, and about a week ago i strapped on a k n' N High Flow 57i kit to my intake. All i can say is wow. I didn't realize how restrictive stock air flow was. In my own judgement, i'd say i gained 8-10 Hp of the mod. However, it was VERY noticeable the next time i drove it. Hopefully this helps...
Not to crap in your cheerios, but that's mostly a placebo effect according to the guys who have dynoed their cars. Apparently the OEM airboxes on our cars are able to flow large amounts of air, and the intakes offer little power at all - mainly sound (which is cool - between the sound of mine and the fact that I never have to buy a new filter, it's money well-spent).
That's the one I have - it was around $40 shipped actually, and it works fine (as in, it doesn't make any power either lol). It does look good and sound good though - I'm happy with it.
So i guess you like it. Im sooooooo close to buying it. How is the instalition on it. Like i can only do basic things on a car haha as long as it doesnt require any modifications i should be fine, and also which one did you get because the one im looking at is 40$ then another 22$ for the shipping? Thanks.
Sorry, yeah I do like it. I would say that the install is about a 1.5 on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the hardest). Just remove the airbox and the arm that goes from the airbox to the throttle body (be careful unhooking things, because they'll need to be hooked back up, like some small vacuum lines). What you'll find is that there's about a 1" diameter hose attached to the airbox, and there's no provision for it on the new intake. Go to the auto parts store and buy a small breather filter (looks like a mini-air intake), and put that on there. That's it. Very easy to do - it'll probably take you ten minutes.
Thanks so much man. Just to make shore is this the same kit you bought? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/95-96...spagenameZWDVW
