Default Exhaust Overload!

Sorry to be such a newbie at this but I'm so lost it's not even funny. I have a 2002 A4 3.0 quattro that needs new catalytic converter. Audi wants 835.00 per Cat I need two. Spoke to Midas here in Vegas and the guy says he's done a butt load of audis using a universal converter that would pass smog in Cali and Vegas all for 780.00

However, now I'm thinking I want to go with an after market system to give my car a more beefy sound. I want beefy not some high pitched nail on a chalk board sound If you have any info please let me know what options I have.
Thanks

I posted in another forum and this is what I got from a member after he asked me how many miles I had

>I got 81k I love the car drove cross county twice thats why
>the miles are high but I got it to drive so I'm ok with
>that. Thanks for the info

I would see..if you can get Audi involved.

You should have a solid 80k warranty, and failure at 81k is kinda, odd.

You may get something like...1/2 off, but, those should NOT have failed at 81k without something causing them to.

You could have larger issue.

That is some pricey cat. I think its better if you look in ebay. If you are going for aftermarket you need to make sure its compatible for audi.

Supersprint has a cat back for your car. They just had a price increase, but orders placed before June 10, 2009 can be had for the old, lower, prices. You will have to call to find out what the old prices are because their web site now shows this week's price increase. Go here:
https://www.supersprintna.com/catego...ategory_id/139

I have posted a couple times yesterday. Go here to learn more info. You need to find a downpipe with metallic cats to go with cat-back (or stock) system as Supersprint does not seem to have this for your car. Another alternative is to go with downpipes that have no catalytic converter, but your car would not pass emmissions and your "check engine light" would be lit. Also you would no longer be Earths's friend.

Go to my post/thread:

I suggest you also check out Fast Intentions who make a system for the A4 and I think that they also have catalytic converters. Call them and see what they can do for you. Go here:
http://fastintentions.com/exhaust/au...a4_default.htm

Finally, Fast Intensions is offered by a performance company, JH Motorsports. JH has some videos on their web site with the FI exhaust (S4 however). Go here:

Good luck.
