intake manifold valve 2002 A6 3.0 Base

Anyone know about replacing an intake valve? Being quoted $300, but being warned that if hose breaks, it could be $600. Replacing hose would require removkng the intake manifold. Any thoughts?

duh I mean an intake manifold valve. I have a vacuum leak.
