When it's on an Audi (or other fine German car) it's 'kraut' not rice.

hey hannesr what you can do is under the dash are some lights, if you take out the bulb and then get and cut the plastic off the wires, you can hook the neon lights up so they'll light up when the door opens and turn off when the door is closed.

Hey, this is exactly what I want to do. I want to change all the white lights that come on when you open the doors (over pedals, under all doors, under back seats, ect.) to red ones. I am unsure whether I need to find and buy red bulbs or red plastic covers to achieve this effect though. Please advise including an estimated price if you can and where to buy the bulbs/ plastic parts.

Thanks a bunch.

for the front seats and over the pedals, what you can do is if you look carefully under the dash, you can pry open the cover containing the light bulb (be careful its very hot!) and then cut the two wires up. What I did after this was buy a 2 streetglow neon lights and then i wired them up to the two wires. That way, whenver i opened the door, the red lights would light up.

If you want to see some pictures, then go to my car domain website. Oh and one more thing, if you're gonna buy some street glows lights ($20 or sohttp://www.urban-neon-car-lights.com/StreetGlow-Neon-Tubes-p-225.html) be sure to get more than two! I bought one for each side and i thoght that was going to be enough but the lights aren't as bright as advertised in their pictures!

You know what will be really cool? Going back to the fac tory lighting when the cheap neon breaks after slamming the door a few times. Lame. If you are going to do it, use LED's not neon. Plus Led's are much efficient than neon (less amperage draw), meaning that you wont be blowing fuses all the time running it off of stock wiring which was designed to power up a small 12v bulb. Good Luck with that.

I dont see how slamming the door would break the neons, but your point about the LEDs being less of a amerpage draw is correct. The downside to using leds is that they're more expensive and the back that they don't shine as much as the neons. So if you want more efficient power but less shine (which means you'll have to buy more of the expensive lights) then go with the leds.

I don't know if you have had experience with neon like I have, I can tell you from experience that small hollow tubes of glass filled with an inert gas under a negative pressure = fragile. And led kits are cheap, even good ones, and I am not talking about the gay ones that "dance" with the music.

well if all you want to do is change the white lights to red, just get red bulbs, LED's if you can find them.. that way there is no hole drilling and you can keep factory integrity (No wire cutting!!!)
