Default removing hazard trim and shift surround

I have a 2001.5 S4 previous owner replaced most of the stock wood trim with aluminum trim which looks good. He left the hazard trim, ashtray and shift surround in the wood. I want to remove it and have a shop paint it piano black....should blend better with the black leather and other aluminu trim pieces.

Some where I saw a detailed write up on doing this but I've searched and can't find it again. Might have been on Audizine and their site is down.

I know how to remove the shift boot but does the shift surround just pull up?

Also the small trim piece around the hazard/cup holder does it just pull off with clips?

Thank you for any help.

I'm not sure for S4, but for A6 they just come off with your strong fingers or a putty knife.
