i realize this is a really really old post, but does anyone have any suggestions since then on what to do about trim peeling? The piece of plastic under the gear shift on my car was peeling when i bought the car, i let it go for almost 2 years, then had to have my arm rest replaced and had that replaced as well, well that was about 2 months ago and now it is peeling like crazy!!!!! And I have barely been driving my car in the last two months..... is there some type of protectant that can be put on it??? I really don't want to replace it again because i feel like it will do the exact same thing

It's a pretty common problem. I've heard greese from your fingers can cause it to peal a lot faster. Not much to stop it really.

sorry to bring up an old post, but most of the A4 owners know this isnt an unusual problem. I have a couple of pieces that are peeling terribly also. I would replace them, but it'd be dumb to spend almost $200 for something thats just going to peel over time again anyways. Does anyone know where you can find an aftermarket replacement part that doesnt peel? or maybe a good way to paint it yourself?

i was thinking of maybe covering the panel under the shifter with leather, but i'd have to do something else for the doorhandles.
