help in st louis!!!
My first car was a 95 acura integra, it was made by honda so maintainence was cheap. It was really reliable, and i drove the **** out of it as well. You can never go wrong with a honda in my opinion.
I saw in one of the first replies that someone recommended a jeep. Stay away from jeeps. I just got rid of my jeep grand cherokee ....finally! and I hated everything about it. THe only good thing was being able to get through everything in the winter, but you live in STL so you dont need to base your buy around that.
Also, about the 4 door option, if you have another car, you could try to get your kid on that one and then insure yourself or another more experienced driver on the 2 door. I bring this up, because the smaller the car, the less likely they will be the one that is always having to haul everyone around...i.e. less miles, less chance for problems/accidents. My first car was a 2 door and I put very few miles all through HS for that very reason.
Just some ideas.
good luck

By the way, I see you're from Bloomington. Definitely try to make it out to our next meet if you can. If you've never been, Elkhart is probably around 45-50 minutes from Bloomington. Here's a link...

So I saw at a small dealershipnear my house a white accord wagon, with some wheels and tint. Its 3 generations ago (94-97 model) - it looks pretty sweet. It may be lowered, but it is for sure rare - and I bet the dealer will be dying to get rid of it because its a wagon.
Although I know its a wagon, and thats not the coolest thing when you're in HS. But I couldnt help myself, its like a pre S4-avant
Sorry, I dont have any other details and I cant find it online. Its at Stipes Autoplex on Page/Linpage rd.

i found an "end of the month" deal on an 05 hyundai elantra gls with 77K miles that he said on may 31st would be 7697 including tax title & licence. (that would be about $6900 before tax). a tad over my budget, but it was a nice car. we'll see.
don't know if he'll hornor it again tomorrow. i need to have my bro in law look at the car fax.
...and i'm not looking fora car all tricked out. i know you probably thought it was "sweet", but i'm looking for "nerd"!

Thats the thing - I didnt think "sweet", it wasnt "Riced", it was nicely done.
And nothing says "Nerd" like an accord wagon
, this just makes it a bit better.
GL with the Hyundai - they have some pretty solid cars coming out of S. Korea righ now

if the car fax is good, then i'll waltz in there with a check alread made out. i'll also have a copy of 3 or 4 other similar priced/mileage of other hyundai's i've found in the area so they know they're not the only game in town.
i'll just say...i'm gonna buy a car this week. it can be from you, or it can be from one of these dealers.
i'll be quick and not listen to their silly comebacks, andsay i'm on my way to look at these other cars.

Not much for you since you're writing a check -I was J/K
If you werent (and i gave you a really sweet one on excel, it would show how the price/interest rate/#of payments effect the monthly payments, and you could use it to show exactly what interest rate/price that you want for XX number of payments. A pretty handy tool for sure!
I make them for my friends who are less accounting oriented than I. (Which is all of them)
