Hey everyone,
My name is Zach. I've owned my 2003 A4 3L Quattro for about a year and a half. It's low mileage, and an Automatic (I wish it was manual). It's my 3rd german car ('80 Mercedes 280CE & '99 VW Passat).

Hey all! Just bought a "great" condition C5 A6 2.7T back in April. I love the car. I have been working on cars for a long time & have knowledge of Audi/VW repair and such. Only thing I refuse to work on is Automatic transmissions. I hate them very much.
I decided to actually join the forums because I did the timing belt & all that good stuff under the timing cover 100% with this site. The Bentley manual kind of makes me want to shoot myself the way its written & it's horrible pictures leave too much unanswered.
So far since I've had this car I've done the following:
1.) Aftermarket "TV" radio receiver, parking brake bypass, fixed feedback issue because of Bose amplifier, 100% integrated to car including steering wheel controls.
2.) Disabled Headlight washer pumps and permanently attached covers to the underside of the bumper.
3.) Front Brake rotor & pad replacement as well as painting them black. Also replaced rear calipers with re-manufactured units as to rid myself of tearing rubber boots and the quite useless threaded caliper piston PITA.
4.) Timing belt & all components
5.) Auxiliary Water Pump
6.) Breather "spider" hose replacement & replaced all 3.5mm vacuum lines.
7.) Fuel Filter, air filter, cabin filter
Things I had done at a shop
1.) Torque Converter Clutch replacement and that entire auto trans stuff that must be done whilst replacing. I could have done it myself, but depending on your financial status, 70 hours (I would take a loooonnng time, I'm slow) time is more valuable to me than $1,500.00
-While the trans was dropped out I changed the pre-cat o2 sensors. Bought the "splice yourself" version. Much cheaper, same effect.
Things I Plan on doing
1.) Power steering pump died (which is what prompted me to replace to timing belt) I replaced it, air is still leaking in from the high pressure outlet hose right where the hose gets "fat". Planning on swapping pump out again (thanks lifetime warranty) and either replacing upper high pressure p/s line or fixing it (which probably won’t work since it’s a hydraulic line)
2.) Going to take the intake manifold off to do P/S H/P upper line (PITA!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and put better hose clamps on coolant hoses attached to aux pump. I plan on taking photos and posting a Aux water pump DIY as I feel my method I've used in my shop is far more safe than any I've seen on here. It may take you an extra 30 minutes but the job is far easier and your fuel lines & manifold are much more safe. I will also post a power steering trouble shooting DIY (everything but steering rack, this is after all a 2.7T, darn turbo related things block EVERYTHING!)
3.) Valve cover gaskets, cam chain tension gaskets & half moon seals (without removing cam shaft). Waiting on person to return my chain tension release tool.
4.) Will be doing & posting the proper way to use seafoam in your 2.7T to clean EVERYTHING out, then obviously show replacing spark plugs, coil packs & oil change after.
5.) Getting rid of P1423 code, Air pump, air pump hose or Kombi valve. Will be posting a DIY to diagnose which is the culprit then the fix obviously.
I’m excited to learn from everyone on here's experience and to possibly divulge some things I know you may not! Happy wrenching!
