Default abs sensor removal

help anyone?

I took front hub to dealers today for bearing fitting.
The wheel sensor had to be removed.
Is there a way too remove the wheel sensor as it appears to be completly seased in the location hole.
After 1/2 hr trying to remove it i cut the cables to remove it.

1 A new one would cost £100 so I am hoping I have not damaged it? Is it a delicate component?

2 Can the cables be soldered and heat sinked to repair.

What year?

I'd say it's a critical component - but I'm fairly new to Audi and not sure how much it ties in with the rest of your electrical.

I did some electrical work on my friends Denali. He went to larger rims and tires and the sensors had to be cut and soldered. In my 'limited' experience, I'd say go for it! Just make sure to test your job with a multimeter and if you have doubts (and I mean like you can't sleep) just get it replaced. Sometimes just shelling out the cash is worth the peace of mind.

Hope that helps!

thanks
I think youre right, and I think you can solder up the connection without a problem
I just think its another poor design feature by Audi (am I allowed to say that on this site?)
It may well cost me over 100 notes for something that should be better though out- Ie non corroding plastic sleeving instead of metal!
