Another new A4 owner from OZ
Hi
I bought a 2003 A4 2.0 a month ago and so far so good. I now understand why people get so excited about german automotive refinement. It's such a pleasure to drive.
My last car was a 3.5L V6 mitsu magna, so the new audi feels a little sluggish off the lights in comparison, but that's ok - I'm not much of a speed demon. Once it's up and running, it's as good as anything I've driven. Brilliant handling and the tiptronic is great fun when you get a little bored of the auto.
The car is in great condition 50,000 on the clock and not a scratch or dent anywhere. The only thing I've noticed is a clicking noise when I reverse, stop, and then put the car into drive. After a few metres there's a clicking sound, feels like the gears engaging. It's not a CV thing as it doesn't happen when I'm turning and only happens after I first start the car. If I repeat the reverse, stop, drive procedure after the car has been running I dont get this clicking sound - is this normal? I don't want to mention it to the dealer if it's not important.
I've had many cars from a Gti Golf when I was much younger, reanults, big Fords and Holdens, toyotas, Mazdas, and an Alfa. This is far superior to anything.
Hopefully, I'll be just as happy twelve months down the track.
Cheers

I spoke with the sealer about this, they told me it is the anti-lock brake system running a test on the backup compressor. So it is no big deal! Hope you enjoy your car as much as I do, curiously our cars are the same year and same color only I have a fully loaded 1.8T.
Thanks for your help everyone.
I suspect it has something to do with the brakes, as it only happens when I turn the car on and shift from park to gear. (You know when you get that initial clicking sound through the brake pedal) once the car is up and running it doesn't happen again.
I'll still get it checked out though.
Robert, coincidence about the cars, I'm a bit jealous of your 1.8T though.
Happy driving everyone
