I have a 1998 audiA3 sport of which i have had for a year now .it has done 65,000 miles and in immaculate condition for its age but recently it has been burning oil badly and when the engine is warm and you accelerate at over 2000 revs it releases blue smoke from the exhaust and it smells of burning oil.Since then i have oil filter changes and had it flushed out but it still smoked so i was advised that the problem was either the head gasket or the oil valve seals which was causing the engine to smoke .So i took it to a garage and had the head taken off and had it repaired .Unfourtunately the problem is still there ,the garage say the only thing it could be now is the piston rings .I am at my wits end and i just want the problem sorted once and for all .i love the car and want to keep it but i dont want to keep shelling out money unless its going to solve it .could any body give me any advise i would gratefully appreciate it as a new member of your forum.thankyou marcd

 

try asking this in the a3 section. it gets WAY more traffic than this section does.
