I am new to Audi ownership and my car has been great thus far but last week my Battery light came on and it has got me a bit stumped. When I put a Volt meter to it when off it reads 12.2 and when on it goes down to 11.6 or so. Now from what I know a car alt should charge between 12 & 14.8 so I don't get it. and this is what I don't get. If it is the Alt then when I turn on all the electrical it should go down and drain on the battery but it does not. The battery Voltage does not go below 11.4volts. anyone got any ideas of what it could be?

What model car? What year? If this is about 4-6 years old then it is entirely possible that the battery is shot.

Give us some more detail.

I see I forgot to put in some important info for anyone to help. I have a 2001 A4 B5 with the 2.8l Quattro Completely STOCK.

The battery is stamped Jan '03
