Wilkommen to the forums

I'm not exactly sure what an A4/S4 2.8 is exactly. The 2001 S4 has the 2.7T motor. The 2001 A4 was available with a 2.8 motor. I suspect that perhaps someone has put S badging on an A4.

good luck

@ 02A6Beau - yeah im still trying to find out for sure. It doesnt have the V8 so I believe you are right but it has the S series door panels, dash cluster, and trunk decal so whoever did it did a decent job.

@ KaylieCottrell Nice to meet you, glad to see im not a lone noob.

I'm guessing that someone put S badges on a standard A4. it really wouldn't be that hard to do and make it look stock.

hopefully you didn't get duped into paying the "book" value of an S4 for an A4. I would suspect there is a difference in residual value. The most common A4 engine in 2001 would be the 1.8 liter turbo version (4 cylinder). The 2.8 liter non-turbo version is considered one of the more reliable audi motors but is bit lacking for power and there are no reasonable options for increasing HP. The S4 in 2001 came with the 2.7 liter, bi-turbo engine.
