Heater problems...
Hi I'm a newbie here. I have a '96 A4 2.8 Quattro. I've had the car about two weeks and as I soon I turn on the heater it blows cold. I warm the car before leaving in the morning as it is my daily driver. I've also searched in the archives and it seems as if its a common problem i.e. heater core...I thought perhaps it was the entire climate control unit. Any ideas and or help would be much appreciated. Finally, any body here use Shokan Audi for parts etc.
Thanks
Thanks
Well to me it sounds like a heater core problem, I have a 94' 90 and I just recently replaced the heater core(wasn't that fun of a job). I have to pull the entire dash apart and pull it back far enough so that it was sitting on the front two seats. I noticed my heater core was broken when I started getting antifreez leaking in on the footwells of the drivers side. Luckly the car was in the shop when it first started leaking and my mechanic saw it right away. I replaced it and all was working well but now when I'm stopped at lights and the engine is at idle it tends to blow out not cold air but cooler air. Have you seen any antifreeze leaking on the inside of your car yet?
Thanks for replying. Judging from all the posts from the archives it seems like it a heater core problem. I even saw some pics on Cardomain about a guy who pulled down his dash and took care of the problem. I guess that's what I'll have to do. Any ideas whether the problem will throw a code for a fault reader!
