Default Hello

Hi all, looks like a pretty cool forum you've got here!
Am pretty new to driving and motors, but please don't throw things at me! I promise I'll try not to ask too many dumb questions
Expect I'll end up doing more reading than posting tbh, but seemed polite to register & say hi

Hi and Welcome Believe me, you're in the right community for Audis. You'll find a ton of info on the cars in the B5 A4 subforum - at the top is a thread called the "Newbie Guide" which will give you a lot of info toward selecting your car and what to look out for. Also, spend some time in the DIY forum and check out the procedures for doing a lot of maintenance and modifications yourself - a big way to keep an Audi affordable is to do your own work. Also, check out the Tech procedures at www.audizine.com, www.audiworld.com, and www.audidiy.com - there's enough reading for days there just on mods and maintenance If you have your Audi already, post up some pics and info - if not, use these guides to help you select, and make sure to put up pics once the ride is yours

Nice one! thanks for the welcome & all the hints and tips, will be sure to check out the threads you suggested. Am very much at the "looking around" stage at the moment, but have a few mates who are very into their cars & one of them said I should look round some Audi forums.

It definitely is - you'll learn a lot. Best idle time reading you can spend is in the DIY sections and the General Tech forums, to learn about a lot of common failure issues we have on these cars and how to fix them yourselves. One of the best ways to keep these things affordable is to fix them yourself. Audi shop rates are astronomical (one guy on here drove 5 hours to my house from CT to have his valve cover gaskets changed out because he was quoted several hundred dollars to do an easy job that requires 40 minutes and $50 in parts). DIY is the way to go with Audi - it may seem intimidating but overall it's a fairly easy car to work on.
