Default Help! Heater Core - 2001 A4

I need some help! Took the 2001 A4 to the dealer due to no heat (it's going to snow in Colorado this weekend- brrrrrr!). I was told by my local Audi dealer that my heater core is 1/2 clogged and will have to replace the entire unit (big bucks!). On another note, I spoke with some friends (BMW master mechanic and Audi mega-knowledgeable guy) that they should try a flush firstbeforethey replacethe core and they're doing this to me (yes, I'm a girl) just to take advantage of me for the bucks. Any advice - would a flush truly help and should I approach the dealer to flush first? Thanks!

Usually when the core is clogged you have to replace it but you could try the flush first. If it works then you'll save some money. The A4 section gets more traffic so ask your tech questions there.

What do you mean " theA4 section gets more traffic". Any info will help. I'm ready to pull it out of the dealer tomorrow.
