Newbie here obvously.

IM carless atm and looking at audi's now. Im definately getting an a4. Looking at a 1998 on the w/e. its exactly what i want. Ive just been reading up on some reviews with the timing belt issues on the 1998's. that they go at around 90k miles. (the one im looking at has done 95,000 KM's. So in converting miles 2 k's i guess the belt should be changed at 144000 around. but many ppl have had it go way before that. should i be worried?? i guess its just the luck of the draw. im getting hte car checked out by my mechanic who i trust of coruse before i buy n e thing.

Hi joele, welcome to the forum. I would not feel safe at all waiting untill 90k miles to change the timing belt. That's just too risky for me.

yeh i just found that on a website thats all.

so if this car has 95000 km's on it shoudl the timing belt have been done already?

im going to look at this one tomorrow.

A car with that many km's probably hasn't had it's timing belt changed. It can probably go another 10k before needing changed.
