New 2000 S4 owner here!
Hello all-
I'm the proud owner of a 2000 S4. I'm with the USAF, and currently stationed in Colorado. I'm a SOUND QUALITY stereo guy! I compete in IASCA, and do 2 installs per month when I'm not too busy flying. I've graduated from CSU with a mechanical engineering degree. Please don't be shy about asking me for any install or system advice...I LOVE this stuff!
Here's a short list of what I've done to the car so far. I'll post pics in a "stereo thread" I'll create shortly.
I've modified my Audi head unit for optical digital output - feeding a modified pro-audio piece; a Rane RPM-26z Digital Signal Processor. I've also gutted the tape player portion and machined some guide rails for my iPod. There's a docking station inside where the tape player mechanism used to be. You slip the iPod through the "tape door", and it mates on the inside. I've "multiplexed" the Audi navigation controls to allow me to manipulate the iPod. The display is duplicated in the gauge cluster. I've moved all of the wires out of the kickpanels and fiberglassed my own kickpanel molds - to be the enclosure for a 6.5" speaker. The tweeters are installed on the A-pillars. I've got some custom 15" subwoofers on the rear deck, running in an "infinate baffle" setup (no 'box').
Cheers,
Matt

Biker-
I'm writing a reply to the H/U help post in the electronics forum right now. The Audi Symphony/Bose sysetm is difficult to work with - but it can be done, and I'll do my best to clear some of the myths about it, and provide a tutorial on what I did to overcome these problems.
Bacon-
I joined the USAF in '97, and have been all around the world. I used to be an F-15 avionics backshop tech., but currently I'm an F-16 pilot. I received a full ride scholarship through the Airman Education and Commissioning Program.
